About the industry

The chemical industry is one of the most significant industrial sectors in Finland. It makes for about a fifth of Finland’s industrial manufacturing and export and employs directly, indirectly and through revenue effects around 100 000 people.

The chemical industry has a significant impact on the well-being of Finns through job creation, tax revenue, and generated value-added, both directly and indirectly, as well as through income effects:

  • Various sectors of chemical product industry: pharmaceutical industry, plastics and rubber industry, cosmetics and detergents, paint industry

The chemical industry invests approximately one billion euros annually in Finland.

R&D investments amount to around 450 million euros each year.

The revenue is 26 billion euros, and the goods export is approximately 14 billion euros annually (in 2021)
